Question 1

What is Hushweft?

Accepted Answer

Hushweft is a web search product with a privacy-first purpose: make it easier to explore the web while keeping privacy and user control central. That purpose is a product goal, not a claim that particular data-handling practices are in place.

Question 2

How does Hushweft search work today?

Accepted Answer

Enter a query to retrieve web results. Hushweft shows each result’s title, snippet, and link to its original source so you can choose where to continue reading.

Question 3

Do I need an account or session to search?

Accepted Answer

No. You can search and view web results without creating an account or signing into a session.

Question 4

Where does my search query go?

Accepted Answer

Search works without a Hushweft account. Your query goes to the Polsia web-search proxy, which caches results for one hour. When the optional AI answer is on (the default), factual answers send the query and result titles, URLs, and snippets used for the answer to the Polsia AI proxy. If the local solver cannot handle a math expression, only the query is sent to the AI proxy. Hushweft does not save search content in its database, durable cache, or application logs. Downstream proxy processing and retention are not verified by Hushweft; avoid entering personal or sensitive details.

Question 5

Are AI answers available now?

Accepted Answer

Yes. “Include an AI answer” is optional and on by default. Turn it off before searching to skip the Polsia AI proxy request; the original web results still appear. Arithmetic and supported linear or quadratic equations are calculated locally when the answer option is on; more complex math queries use a math-only AI request without web snippets.

Question 6

How does an AI answer use sources?

Accepted Answer

Factual answers use results from the current query, link each claim to its supporting result, and then show the result list with titles, links, and snippets. If the sources do not support a reliable answer, Hushweft says so instead of filling gaps. A calculation can still be shown when there are no web results.

Question 7

What does “privacy-first” mean here?

Accepted Answer

It describes the product’s direction and goal. The concrete facts available today are that search works without an account or session and sends the query to Hushweft’s search service to retrieve results. We do not use “privacy-first” as a promise about unconfirmed data practices.

Question 8

Why does Hushweft show original-source links?

Accepted Answer

The links take you to the pages behind the search results. You can open those pages and read more context from the original source.

Search, clearly understood.
